Tutoring Services and Experience
I completed my undergraduate degree in Anthropology, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Honours. During this stage in my education I pursued a fascination with human biology and social development. It also allowed me to explore and develop related interests in environmental and animal sciences. In addition to sciences I also continued taking English literature courses throughout my undergraduate degree, in order to gain experiences and a deeper understanding in children’s literature, which is another of my passions and field I intend to contribute to in addition to teaching.

I completed my Bachelor of Education in the Primary/Junior division at the University of Ottawa. This allowed me the opportunity to gain hands on experience through practice teaching in a Junior Kindergarten class where I integrated all subject areas using thematic units. My second practicum was in the Grade Five classroom where I was able to focus my practice using some of my personal strengths in science and visual arts. I was lucky in my placements to experience diversity not only within schools, but also between them. Both of these classroom experiences reaffirmed my passion for learning and my desire to teach.

After working in Ottawa with Junior/Intermediate aged children as a camp counsellor in a high needs community this past summer, I moved to Toronto to continue pursuing my teaching career closer to my family. I have completed the additional qualification course for teaching Intermediate Science, and am currently completing Special Education Part I.

I am a positive, self-motivated and well rounded person. As a tutor I will be eager to offer my creative skills in visual arts and my deep interest in sciences and literacy to support student learning. I am also very concerned with environmental and social justice issues and as a pre-service teacher I took courses such as Teaching for Global Justice and Peace, Schooling and Society, and Special Education, which have given me an even stronger conviction of the necessity of addressing issues such as diversity and respect in all teaching.

I am a happy and compassionate person. I love working with children and am enthusiastic about my career in the field of education.
