Its just an extra headache for parents as no actual tutoring is done. They just ask you to take worksheets home and do them on your own. They bind you in these long contracts that you can't get out of.
There are very weird comments here...

Sounds like parents those who commented here did NOT quite involve their child's learning activity! First, Kumon is not a tutoring company!! They provide Math & Reading programs with 2-days a week instruction. Second, Kumon's strategic approach is "give students a pinpoint hint, lead them to solve questions by themselves." Many students tend to ask for help from their laziness even they completely understand and are capable to solve questions by themselves. Kumon's own materials (researched/specially designed and different from a drill book can be found at Chapters, etc.) shows examples when students have a new concept. Also, Kumon instructors will explain these new concepts and give them some practice in class. Of course, when students need for help, instructors are always ready to do so. The point is: too much instructions or explanation DOES NOT HELP any students. It just gives them more laziness and they become to rely on someone's help. Please be advised if parents don't see this, your child will not be successful.
Not one on one. But the best experience ever!

I decided to write this review because I hated to only see the negative review on here. Be prepared to be involved in you child's learning. Don't expect others to do your work for you. People complaining about having to mark, wanting constant one on one interaction with there child. How does one on one teaching help your child in life? Maybe it helps for quick fix. This program is not one on one. Over time, Kumon it taught my son to learn how to teach himself though examples and doing things over and over until you get it. How did you learn your times tables? repetition, no? My little guy was falling behind in school. I heard about Kumon and decided to give it a shot. I wanted fast results but I found out fast that it was not going to be a quick fix. They gave him worksheets to do every day. First i thought it was useless because my son was doing easy work. After the first month he started to do harder work. I was given an answer book and asked to correct his work at home if i had time. They told me that he needed to correct any mistakes he made right away so that they were fresh in his head. That was 4 years ago. My son is still in Kumon today and I plan to have him stay as long as possible. I'm proud but embarrassed to say that he is smarted that me. :-) doing math that I know i did but I don't remember how I did it. He is way ahead of his class and I plan to keep it that way. Does he like Kumon? Heck no! He still fights me every day, he's a kid and we are the parents. I don't worry about him missing some school days or taking vacations because he might fall behind in school. So ya! Very happy and highly recommend the Kumon program. Just be patient and be a parent.

Cheers,

There is no tutoring...you are better of buying books from chapters for 20 bucks and teaching your child. They even expect parents to mark and maintain records of how your child is doing...all they do is give out workbooks...
Waste of Time

There is actually no tutoring. All my son did was get worksheets and some high school student in the back marked the worksheets and gave it back to him. Not much interaction except getting his worksheet back marked.. So if you are looking for a cheap tutoring with no tutor to teach your child then this centre is for you! My son hated the repetition of worksheets. Now he hates to be tutored period. Bad experience!
