Tutoring Services and Experience
I will be entering my 4th year at Laurier-Nipissing in September. I have completed 3 practicum's (120 hours each) in a grade 5, 7/8, and 8 classroom located in the Brantford region. In these practicum's, I was required to instruct lessons that fit with the Ontario Curriculum, assist students with a variety of activities, and participate in staff meetings. I have also volunteered at the Hospital for Sick Children as a child-life volunteer, and in September I will be volunteering in a classroom which serves the inpatients of Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Additionally, I have had prior tutoring experience as a Laurier Students for Learning Volunteer which allowed me to tutor a grade 2 student with his reading and writing. I have also tutored a student who is looking to write her SSAT's this October in order to be accepted into a private school.

In a tutoring session, I would go over the students homework and review the areas that the child needs additional support in. I would also bring extra sheets that would allow the student to have more practice in order to ensure their understanding of the concept. I would ensure the child feels comfortable and would encourage questions.
