Tutoring Services and Experience
As an English major, I am experienced in composition and literary analysis, and is best at helping students with these aspects of their education. While these skills may commonly be applied to the study of English, they are also useful for essay or paragraph writing in Social Studies, Civics, History or Art History and other humanities that require argument or theme-based essay writing.

I strongly believe in the power of practice and the slow but conscious development of skills, particularly when dealing with composition. Unlike many areas of study, learning how to write well is not only about studying a set of grammatical rules, but also about how to create a more cohesive paragraph or essay. I feel that the best way to improve, or help someone else improve, is to find the parts of your composition that are not working and not only fix them within the piece of writing you are working on, but learn how to change your writing practices overall so that you don’t make that mistake in future writing. Given the number of timed essays Jamie has written, she finds overall improvement very important if high grades on an English or other essay-based exam are desired.
