Tutoring Services and Experience
BC certified mathematics teacher. Bsc (mathematics). Past senior mathematics instructor. 18 years experience including turning a mentaly unstable (making bottle bombs) student from a failure to a B student. Mission statement: To help students gain mathematical confidence and competence in the exam room (and bedroom). Lead students to the light rather than showing them the light. I make students WORK rather than spoonfeed the formulas. Use cartoons (Transformers), songs (Twinkle twinkle little star),games (Jeoparady)and field trips (calculator factory, hot dog stand). Tell you which chapters to burn after the exam. Tell you the differece between a matrix and a marshmallow. Offer inovative note taking techniques (fill in the blanks, mind maps). Offer intense provincial exam training. Unique 4 step method of teaching: 1) assessment 2)theory 3) practice 4) feedback . Teach students to apply critical thinking in their analysis while minimizing memory use so that they can remember their 18 girlfriend's phone number. Concepts and connections are taught rather than regurgitating 100 formulas. Disclaimer: If you think you can cram 3 months of material into one night, please inflict yourself on another teacher.
